Match Report: Yorkshire Post: 29th March 1920:

LEEDS UNITED'S DEBUT

LEEDS UNITED v YORKSHIRE AMATEURS

Although Amateurs were well represented in this fixture, which was played on the Leeds United's ground, they were never a match for their opponents. LIeut. Harvey the Sheffield and England international forward, occupied the outside right position for Amateurs, but he was of little account throughout. The United played with confidence, and quite earned their success. With the wind behind them at the outset, Leeds soon opened the scoring through White. Later Jones increased the lead, and the teams swung round leading by two clear goals. The Amateurs' play in the first minutes of the second half suggested a determination to wipeout the arrears, but their efforts soon slackened, and it was the United who scored, Buckley getting their third goal. The Amateurs' only goal came direct from a well-placed corner taken by O'Kelly, Jeffrey, the Leeds goalkeeper, striking the ball into his net.
